Kale Yeah! Kitchens is a sustainability scheme that encourages university caterers to make their menus more sustainable by serving less – and sourcing better – meat, fish and dairy, and adding more plant-based options.
To participate, caterers simply need to agree to, and sign, the Kale Yeah! Kitchens pledge.
Caterers are then entitled to:
- Call their business a Kale Yeah! Kitchen.
- Use Kale Yeah! branding, promotional materials – including posters, window stickers, tent cards and t-shirts– and images for social media and websites.
1. Sign the pledge
We (the caterer) agree to the following pledge:
"We recognise the impact on both the climate emergency and nature crisis of over-consumption of meat, fish and dairy products, particularly those from intensive systems.
"We’ll play our part in addressing this by reducing the amount of meat, fish and dairy products that we’re buying and by increasing the proportion of healthy, plant-based options on our menus.
"We’ll source animal products from higher welfare systems and with stronger environmental standards as much as possible.”
2. Use our resources to rebalance, incentivise and promote your menus
