Local action groups are the local solution to a global crisis.

Friends of the Earth local action groups are part of the largest grassroots environmental campaigning network in the UK and are made up of people just like you.

The answer lies with us. The breakdown of our climate and environment is a global problem, and what we do in the next few years will determine the future of our world.

We know the solutions and together we can make a real difference at a national and local level.

Mayoral elections 2024

In May 2024 over 45% of voters in England will be able to vote for their next elected combined authority mayor or the Mayor of London.

We have an opportunity to scrutinise mayoral candidates’ plans for climate and nature and to secure greater ambition from them through campaigning and our mayoral pledge.

Local authorities are crucial to delivering the urgent action we need on climate and nature.

There are already some great initiatives underway across the UK, so we've compiled a suite of case studies to help inspire your local leaders to make a difference with the powers and resources they have available.

Together we can boost the impact of every local win. We can look to each other for inspiration. We can find strength in numbers to push for big national change.
