In October, we're joining more that 70 organisations who are part of the Corporate Justice Coalition and grassroots groups from across the country to organise a mass lobby of Parliament – and we need your help to make it a success.
Over the last three years you've held film screenings, organised days of action, met your MP, gathered stories from your community and built support for stronger laws that protect people and planet. Now we have an opportunity to take that momentum to Westminster.
Join us in London to take your Planet over Profit campaign to the next level and tell your MP why you want a new law that protects people and planet from corporate harm.
What is a mass lobby?
A mass lobby is when people from across the country meet their MPs in Parliament on the same day to call for change. By joining hundreds of other campaigners, we'll show there's widespread support for a new law that protects people and planet from corporate harm.
Joining us in London for the lobby sends a strong message to MPs about how important this campaign is to you. But we understand not everyone can make it to Westminster on the day. If you’re unable to travel but would still like to get involved, you can find more information on how to support the lobby locally.
Why now?
UK businesses are profiting from global supply chains that are destroying precious forests, threatening wildlife and violating people’s human rights. Your work on Planet over Profit over the last 3 years, from community film screenings, to days of action, has helped to draw attention to these serious corporate abuses and grow support for the campaign across the country.
We know the government is currently looking into responsible business practices. This is a key political moment to introduce a new law to protect people and planet.
We can't miss this moment. By heading to Westminster and lobbying our MPs in October, we can ensure MPs don't pass up this important opportunity to protect communities and nature from corporate abuse.
What we’re asking MPs to do
Our demand is simple. We’re calling on MPs to back the urgent introduction of a Business, Human Rights and Environment Act.
On the day, we’ll ask MPs to show their support for the new law by doing one of the following:
- Signing the Good Business Matters pledge – joining over 80 parliamentarians in committing their support for a new law.
- Contacting the relevant ministers – to make a case for action with key decision-makers.
- Sharing support for the law on social media – to help grow the movement behind our campaign and put pressure on the government to take action.
We'll provide you with a briefing (coming soon) to share with your MP on the day, explaining why the campaign matters and what they can do.
If your MP has done these actions already, or wants to go further with their support, there’s lots more we can ask them to do, like making a public statement of support, speaking at parliamentary debates and asking parliamentary questions to keep the law in the spotlight.
What to expect on the day
10:30-12:30: Kick-off event near Westminster
Hear from inspirational speakers about why a new law is needed, including international activists with lived experience of fighting corporate abuse. We'll also prep you with everything you need to know for meeting your MP and talking to them about the campaign. There’ll be time to meet with fellow activists, find others from your constituency and grab some lunch (provided).
12:30-1:30pm: Group photo near Parliament
We’ll walk to a nearby location outside Parliament and take a group photo to capture the strength of our movement. Don’t forget your campaign bunting to display in the photo if you’ve been creating it over summer.
1:30-4pm: Lobby our MPs at the Palace of Westminster
We’ll then head into Parliament to meet our MPs. Where possible, you’ll have organised a meeting with your MP in advance. If not, you can fill in a ‘green card’ at reception to let your MP know you’re there and you’d like to meet with them.
Throughout the day
Our kick-off event venue at the Abbey Centre will stay open all day as a hub where you can drop in for a chat, connect with other group members, and enjoy a well-earned cup of tea. Friends of the Earth staff will be on hand to chat about the campaign and support you ahead of your MP meetings.

How to prepare for the mass lobby
- Sign up to attend. Each individual member of your group who’s coming to the lobby will need to sign up separately, so we know how many people to expect on the day.
- Let your MP know you’re coming. Use our template email to tell your MP you’ll be coming and ask them to meet with you on the day. The earlier you get in touch the more likely you are to get a slot in their diary.
- Invite your community. Ask your partners and others from your local area to join you at the lobby so your MP knows that lots of their constituents care about this campaign.
- Join our webinar on 16 September where we’ll go through all the plans for the lobby and you can ask any questions, so you’re ready to go.
- Arrange your travel. Plan your journey to the lobby and book tickets ahead if you can, to help you get there easily on the day. We’ll also have financial support available to help with travel costs for those who need it – see more info below.
- Collect bunting over the summer to bring along. As part of your summer campaign activities, we’re encouraging you to make bunting with your community to show why people care about the campaign. You can then bring this along to the lobby as an eye-catching prop for our group photo.

Accessibility and financial support
We want everyone to feel able to take part in the mass lobby. We have a small fund available to cover travel costs for those who need it most. You can email us and we’ll share the simple process for accessing this. Please share with members of your group too, so they can email us directly if they need support.
Venues will be wheelchair accessible, and you can let us know any access needs and dietary requirements when you register via the sign up form. You can also get in touch if you have any questions about accessibility ahead of the day – wherever possible we’ll try and meet any access requirements.
What to do after the lobby
- Follow up with your MP. Whether you managed to meet with them or not, use our template emails (coming soon) to follow up with your MP and make sure they know why you came to the lobby and what actions you want them to take.
- Share your photos from the day on social media and tag your MP to ensure they feel the pressure to take action.
- Tell us what your MP said. Let us know how your meeting went so we can help ensure MPs stick to their commitments. We’ll share a feedback form after the day, so keep an eye out.
What if you can't make it to London
We need as many people as possible to attend the mass lobby of Parliament, so MPs know our campaign is too big to ignore. But we understand not everyone can easily make it to London.
If it's not possible for you, don't worry, you can still get involved by asking your MP to meet you locally instead.
If you're planning to take part locally, please still sign up to the lobby, so we can send you all the resources you need to meet with your MP.
What to do once you've signed up to take part locally
- Ask your MP for a meeting. Email your MP now to ask them to meet with you using our template email. We're suggesting you ask for a meeting as close to the lobby day as possible, to make the most impact. Although your MP will likely be in Westminster on 21 October, they should be available to meet in your constituency on another day close to that. The earlier you get in touch, the more likely you'll be to get a space in their diary around the day of the lobby.
- Spread the word. Invite people from your community to meet your MP alongside you. The more people who join, the clearer it is to your MP that their constituents want irresponsible businesses held to account for their actions.
