The government is legally obliged to write a new climate plan. But there's a real risk this plan will fail to deliver the bold action urgently needed to protect both planet and people.

On 12 October groups across the country took part in the The Climate Coalition’s Common Grounds Day of Action. Together, we showed our elected officials that people from all walks of life want to see strong climate action for a fairer future.

Over the next few months, as the government prepares to publish a draft climate plan, we’ll be ramping up our efforts to make sure the government delivers a climate plan that slashes emissions and benefits people.

Demand a Big Climate Plan that delivers not just a greener future, but a fairer one too.

We need a Big Climate Plan

We know people power works. Thanks to mass support of our campaign for a Climate Change Act in 2008, the UK became the first country to set legally binding national climate targets.

But the last government's plans to actually meet these targets were found to be unlawful. We know because we’ve exposed the government in court over their inadequate plans. Twice. The judge has ordered a new climate plan by May 2025. We need to make sure it's a bold and fair climate plan.

Take action this winter

Over winter we’re going to collect petition signatures from our community to demonstrate public support for a bold and fair climate plan.

A petition is a powerful tool to show public support for a bold and ambitious climate plan whilst building the power of your group. Here’s how you can use a petition to build support for The Big Climate Plan.
