The government is legally obliged to write a new climate plan. But there's a real risk this plan will fail to deliver the bold action urgently needed to protect both planet and people.
That's why we're taking part in The Climate Coalition’s Common Grounds Day of Action on Saturday 12 October 2024 to demand a fairer future. Thousands of people from across the UK will unite to send a shared message to their politicians: that folks everywhere care about people, climate and nature. We'll be asking our MPs to leave behind a legacy of driving action that’s good for us, good for the climate and good for nature.
Let’s use this opportunity to advocate for an ambitious and fair climate plan that slashes emissions and benefits people.
We need a Big Climate Plan
We know people power works.
Thanks to mass support of our campaign for a Climate Change Act in 2008, the UK became the first country to set legally binding national climate targets. But the last government's plans to actually meet these targets were found to be unlawful.
We know because we’ve exposed the government in court over their inadequate plans. Twice. The judge has ordered a new climate plan by May 2025. Together, we can make sure the new climate plan has fairness at its core.
