The government is legally obliged to write a new climate plan by autumn 2025. But there's a real risk this plan will fail to deliver the bold action urgently needed to protect both people and planet.
Over the next few months, as a draft plan is developed, we’ll be building public support, working with communities, and calling on MPs to back a bold and fair climate plan that delivers for everyone.
On 9 July 2025 people across the country will come together – both in London and locally – to meet their MPs and call for climate action.
Demand a Big Climate Plan that delivers not just a greener future, but a fairer one too.
We need a Big Climate Plan
We know people power works. Thanks to mass support of our campaign for a Climate Change Act in 2008, the UK became the first country to set legally binding national climate targets.
But the last government's plans to actually meet these targets were found to be unlawful. We know because we’ve exposed the government in court over their inadequate plans. Twice. The judge has ordered a new climate plan. We need to make sure it's a bold and fair climate plan.

Take part in the mass lobby
This July, campaigners across the UK will meet their MPs – either in Westminster or locally – as part of the mass lobby on 9 July 2025. These meetings are your chance to call on your MP to support a Big Climate Plan that delivers for people and the planet.
Read our guide for how to have impactful conversations with your MP, including how to prepare for the mass lobby, key points to raise and how to follow up afterward.
Build community support
Spring and summer are a great time to engage people in your area and build local momentum ahead of the 9 July mass lobby.
Over the next few months we’ll be out in our communities, raising awareness about the campaign. We’ll use community message board to start conversations, collect local stories, and bring powerful messages to your MP.
Read the guide on involving your community in the mass lobby.

Fairness in climate policy
We’re advocating for fairness in the government’s new climate plan.
Fairness demands greater equality of access to transport, warm homes and decent livelihoods. It means the costs of the transition falling on the people and countries with the broadest shoulders.
Find out what fairness looks like in climate policy by reading our report "The Fairness Test: a mandate for bold climate policy".
