Major forms of pollution impact the air we breathe, our water and our land. Air pollution is a major public health issue, particularly due to excessive traffic levels. But farming, power stations, wood-burning and factories also contribute.
Jenny Bates
Jenny leads campaigns at Friends of the Earth around topic areas including air pollution and climate emissions from transport, including aviation, and has been our air pollution expert for many years. Jenny has considerable experience in supporting individuals and groups who are trying to improve the quality of the air they breathe.
Jenny campaigns for adequate measures to help improve air quality including in relation to transport emissions for alternatives to driving, Clean Air Zones and on proposals like new roads or airport expansion, bringing in air pollution as a key focus. Jenny represents Friends of the Earth in the Healthy Air Campaign, liaising with health and transport organisations, and other environmental NGOs.
